August 2, 2014: Cady Ridge (Wenatchee National Forest, Washington)

It was an unusually muggy week, which led to thunderstorms arriving overhead just as we arrived at the PCT (and the high point for the day): not the ideal weather for a 16-mile loop hike (map). To top it off, the last four miles on the Little Wenatchee Trail were mostly through knee- to chest-high brush that was soaking wet from all the rain. We were going to camp somewhere and hike some more the next day, but with thunderstorms still drifting around into the evening, we bailed out and drove back to Portland that night, passing through more storms, wind, and wildfires along the way.
