On the last couple days of the trip, I didn't really do any hiking; I just drove around northeastern California. First, I went south from Lake Tahoe to Ebbetts Pass (Highway 4) and down to the Mokelumne River; then I backtracked to Highway 89 and drove east across Monitor Pass into Nevada. After spending the night in Reno, I headed back to Oregon via Mt. Shasta by cutting across from Susanville on Highways 44 and 89.
