This is a ridiculous hike: 11.4 miles round-trip, with about 5000 feet of very steep elevation gain (and loss), and very few views along the way. You wouldn't want to do it when it's hot (too exhausting), when it's raining (too slippery), or without trekking poles (too slow, especially on the way down).
